Ecopare, the energy management solutions provider, has been awarded The Planet Mark™ Certificate for its commitment to achieving year-on-year progress on sustainability.
The Planet Mark™ Certificate was presented to Ecopare by Steve Malkin, founder of The Planet Mark™ and Sir Tim Smit KBE, Co-founder of the Eden Project, at The Planet Mark™ 3rd anniversary celebration on November 1 in London.
Ecopare, based in Guildford, specialises in practical energy management for industrial, educational and commercial businesses. Typically, Ecopare aims to achieve an energy saving in the region of 25% for clients where it is able to implement an ongoing programme of change. Last year alone, it reduced its clients carbon footprint by 6000 tons of greenhouse gases, the company said.
Craig Astfalck, Managing Director of Ecopare, said: “By encouraging our suppliers and clients to optimise their energy usage, we believe these measures will ultimately benefit the environment in the future.”
The Planet Mark™ is an internationally recognised and trusted sustainability certification programme, recognising commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability. It is awarded to businesses, properties, new developments and projects that are committed to reducing their carbon emissions. On average, Planet Mark-certified businesses make a 5% carbon reduction per employee per year.

Sustainability actions Ecopare has already implemented, include:
- installed LED Lighting into their new offices
- installed monitoring system on electrical circuits to monitor consumption and track baseloads
- certified to ISO 14001 (August 2016)
• supporting Guildford Borough Council in running ‘Hydro Education Workshops’ with the local theatre to educate school children about energy efficiency in the home.
