Greenbuild Expo, the sustainable refurbishment and building event, will take place from November 10th to 11th in Manchester. Here are three reasons why you should attend

Greenbuild Expo

1. Future cities and Manchester’s low carbon future – with Government plans to create a ‘northern powerhouse’, Manchester is re-inventing itself to be at the centre of the region’s low carbon future. Not only has Manchester council this summer unveiled plans for a shiny new city centre, including multi-billion pound new neighbourhoods and ‘vertical villages’, but Manchester is pledging to move to a low carbon economy by 2025. Greenbuild Expo will be focusing on this through its dedicated Future Cities zone supported by the Future Cities Catapult. The zone will look at what our cities and buildings could be like in the future and inspire people within the built environment to look at things differently.

2. Minimum energy efficiency standards (MEES) are just around the corner – legislative requirements and commercial necessity have made energy efficiency of buildings a key priority for property developers, landlords and the businesses that occupy them. Energy for heating and powering non-domestic buildings is responsible for 12 per cent of UK carbon emissions and by 2018 all non-domestic properties rented to new tenants (or renewing tenants) will need to meet the minimum standard of E EPC, unless they have registered an exemption. At Greenbuild Expo you will be able to hear all the latest expert advice and case studies to ensure you are ahead of the regulation, including a presentation from Planet First on five practical steps to successfully engage occupiers and employees to drive up energy efficiency.

3. Be at the show that is leading by example – Greenbuild Expo is one of a small number of events that is demonstrating its commitment to ongoing sustainability by becoming a Planet Mark-certified event. This means the show is measuring its carbon footprint, which will be externally verified, and committing to make year-on-year reductions in its carbon emissions. The Planet Mark /certification/) is a sustainability certification for business, buildings and properties provided by Planet First in partnership with the Eden Project.

The Planet First team looks forward to welcoming you at Greenbuild Expo, where we will have some great exclusive offers to share with you. Please come and visit us at Stand F13 and join us for our presentation “People power: 5 ways to engage occupiers and employees in energy efficiency” in the Blue Room at 12pm on November 10th.
