Ineco Energy, a deployer of solar energy, power storage and LED lighting to schools and businesses, has achieved certification to The Planet Mark.
This is Ineco Energy’s first year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to The Planet Mark. They first calculated the carbon footprint of their Cardiff operational site for the year ending January 2020 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Ineco Energy’s total carbon footprint for the year ending January 2020 was 17.2 tCO2e and the relative carbon footprint was 4.3 tCO2e per employee.
If Ineco Energy is able to achieve its carbon reduction target they will have saved carbon equal to 2100 miles driven in an average car.
Steve Malkin, Founder and CEO of The Planet Mark, commented: “I’m pleased to have Ineco Energy join us at The Planet Mark community. As an installer of renewable and energy efficiency solutions, their expertise in the world of sustainability is clear, and we hope to help them build on this existing knowledge to become a low carbon company. I admire the ambition to push beyond the business-as-usual and make positive change in all aspects of its business. This is the spirit I love to see in organisations. I am looking forward to continuing our sustainability journey together.”
Ineco Energy has sustainability at its core. As well as helping businesses and schools to install renewable and low-carbon energy solutions, it creates ongoing relationships with clients to help them reduce their energy in the smartest way possible. Transparent, data-driven decisions are made to reduce energy beyond the point of installation through the implementation of a measurement strategy and analysis. The company also works with funding streams to help low-income schools and businesses create sustainable solutions on a budget.
Companies working in renewable energy must maintain particular focus on their sustainability strategies. Consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious, and those seeking renewable energy solutions are likely to be specially focussed on the sustainability of a company’s supply chain. It is also important that renewable energy companies demonstrate their own ability to reduce their impact on the planet as a means of developing trust and authority with new and existing clients.
