The new Lumia range developed by Rentokil, provides a clear lens through which to see the power of innovation. This presents a host of opportunities for businesses to design, produce and distribute low-carbon products, allowing consumers to reduce the emissions they create in the using and disposing of them.
The Lumia fly control unit introduced in May this year is the first in the UK to use energy-efficient LEDs to transmit Ultraviolet (UV) light. An efficiency attribute measured and reported by The Planet Mark sustainability certification. Through analysing its operational performance, the Lumnia range presented a notably lower energy consumption and carbon footprint per hour of operation. When compared to similar products, this delivers an average 61% saving in energy. Additionally, the products LEDs can last at least three years, compared to standard tubes which need to be replaced annually.
Upon certifying the Lumia Range with The Planet Mark, Steve Malkin, CEO & Founder commented; “Rentokil’s achievements are a shining example of the increasingly synonymous relationship between sustainability and innovation. Organisations such as Rentokil are in an exceptional position, in that as they develop new technologies such as these, they embed a culture of sustainable consciousness, decarbonise their product range, and vicariously empower consumers to do the same. As these innovations are put in the hands of their consumers, the effect of each one is amplified hundreds and thousands of times, making the cumulative effect very powerful.”
