Rokill, a market leader in the pest control industry working in all sectors including retail, food manufacturing, hospitality and domestic property, has achieved certification to The Planet Mark.
This is Rokill’s third year of business carbon footprint reporting and certification to The Planet Mark. They first calculated the carbon footprint of their UK office operations for the year ending 2018 and set a target to reduce emissions by 5% annually.
Rokill’s total carbon footprint for the year ending March 2020 was 306.0 tCO2e, a decrease of 10.5% from the year ending 2019. The relative carbon footprint was 4.6 tCO2e per employee, a decrease of 13.9% compared to the year ending 2019.
The carbon saved by Rokill this year is the same as diverting 1500 bags of rubbish from landfill to recycling plants.
Rokill also measured its Social Value contribution for the year ending 2020. It reported on 13 Social Value measures with the top three contributors being employing local staff, having a local supply chain and donating money to charities, totalling a contribution of £539,643.

Chris Turner, Director of Rokill, commented: “We are delighted to confirm that Rokill has received its third year Planet Mark certification, achieving an absolute carbon reduction of 10.5% over the previous year. Our team has worked hard this year to reduce our carbon footprint through more efficient driving, supported by advanced vehicle telematics to produce driver behaviour league tables. We are committed to delivering further reductions in our carbon footprint through many other initiatives. Our company fleet is our major target for improvement and we have recently placed orders for hybrid vehicles meaning over 60% of our cars will be hybrids in 2021.
As part of the latest The Planet Mark review our Social Value contribution was assessed and we are really proud of the positive impact we make and it reflects positively on the values of our company and our team.”
Rokill has undertaken several sustainable initiatives beyond its commitment to continually reduce its carbon footprint. The company has committed to protect an acre of threatened rainforest through a collaboration with conservation charity Cool Earth, which stores 260 tonnes of carbon. Rokill has also committed to spreading sustainability among its network of stakeholders and engage its employees in ways to become more sustainable.
Businesses must be primed for a sustainable transition.
