TBT Marketing is an independent B2B marketing agency, bringing an imaginative and collaborative approach to client work for the past 20 years. As an agency, they work with ambitious B2B brands pioneering technology and change, whom they apply their Future Focused approach to marketing. Liberating client potential through technology to solve business and marketing challenges, delivering results that keep them leading the charge for a more sustainable future for business and the wider community.
Frome based tech specialist B2B marketing agency, TBT Marketing, has today unveiled a new commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2025. Championing several strategies to make all aspects of its business more energy-efficient, as well as influencing change across its client base. Offering sustainable alternatives to traditional marketing solutions through its new Future Focused approach to marketing.
Whilst most businesses would celebrate a 20th anniversary, for TBT, who this year reaches that milestone, 2020 marks the launch of their Future Focused approach and the start of their ambitious journey to be a carbon neutral business. Ensuring sustainability is a driver for innovation and competitive advantage, by baking it into the core of clients marketing strategies and not retrospectively sprinkling on.
This comes after a period of reflection and growing recognition from across TBT’s client base that the linear business model isn’t sustainable. And influenced by the growing demand for Climate Action, like many, frustrated by the lack of leadership and governance, a business decision was made to start tracking and auditing carbon emissions through The Planet Mark.
Steve Malkin, CEO of Planet First and Founder of The Planet Mark, commented: “It is my pleasure to welcome TBT to The Planet Mark. We need the world’s creatives, our professional persuaders, to live and breathe sustainability if we are to achieve our goals regarding climate change, and TBT are doing just this. Their power to positively influence is huge. This is a fantastic objective and one that we are truly excited to help deliver.”
As part of TBT’s new Future Focused approach, the agency is putting climate at the heart of every business decision and marketing solution for their clients. Being Future Focused is about making the smart business decisions that support the positive transition to a net-zero circular economy. It means applying technology to liberate potential and solve business and marketing challenges.
Katherine Piper, Director at the Future Economy Network said “We were delighted to be able to offer network members, TBT the opportunity to work with us to promote the Festival of Sustainable Business. Their commitment to carbon-neutrality and sustainability was very apparent in their pitch and we look forward to working with them (from our carbon-neutral sustainability hub, Future Leap) to deliver another successful Festival.”
TBT’s chief executive Ed Craven-Smith said “TBT recognises the importance the business community has in addressing the climate emergency. As part of our transition to being a net-zero business, being a member of the Future Economy Network has been both energising and insightful in equal measures. Being appointed by the FEN to promote such a pivotal event is a huge honour for us and a clear indication of our commitment to a sustainable future.”
To achieve this, a dedicated team of employees formed Mission Zero (which includes the Chairman and HR manager), whose purpose is to identify ways in which to accelerate and facilitate the business transition and that of its employees; supporting them in using their power to push for change in the spaces where they have influence.
TBT has since launched initiatives including the Green Levy and the Green Justification as a direct result of Mission Zero. The Green Levy is recognition of the impact and influence TBT has as a business and in turn, the impact clients have on TBT’s carbon footprint. TBT will now always champion a sustainable solution, however, if there isn’t this option, a carbon offsetting calculation is made and added to offset the decision, with the proceeds going to a sustainable charity of the customer’s choice.
On TBT’s zero-carbon commitment chairman Pete Saunders said: “We are all acutely aware that there is no Planet B, so like many others, TBT Marketing wants to reduce our carbon footprint. We were advised a reasonable target was to be a Zero emission business by 2030, however, our passionate TBT volunteer team who are working on various projects to reduce our environmental impact felt we could do better! So, we have set a goal of Mission Zero by 2025.
“Who knows, we may even do better than that – we are already using renewable energy and many of our processes are now paperless. We look forward to updating you on our progress in the coming months and years.”
