The Soap Co., the ethical and luxury brand that is creating employment for blind and disabled people, has celebrated its second birthday by launching its first range of products to carry The Planet Mark™ logo.

The Soap Co.’s new range – Geranium & Rhubarb and Wild Nettle & Sage – includes hand-crafted hand and body products and cold processed soaps. They are the first consumer products ever to carry The Planet Mark™ sustainability certification logo, having been made and packed in The Soap Co’s East London factory and a traditional workshop in the Lake District.

The Soap Co. is part of Clarity, the UK’s oldest social enterprise, which employs visually impaired, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged people. Clarity – The Soap Co. was awarded The Planet Mark™ earlier this year for demonstrating its commitment to year-on-year progress on sustainability, including reducing its operational carbon emissions across its four UK sites in East London, Keswick, Portsmouth and Scotland.

Camilla Marcus-Dew, co-founder of The Soap Co. said The Soap Co. was “a proud holder of The Planet Mark™” and the decision to carry The Planet Mark™ logo on its new luxury hand and body product labelling was taken to demonstrate customers The Soap Co. had taken its commitment to sustainability “to the next level”.

The new range marks the Soap Co’s most eco collection yet. As well as using eco-certified, organic or plant-derived ingredients, 93% of the ingredients are sourced from British companies. The range is bee-friendly, vegan, biodegradable, free from SLS and not harmful to aquatic life.

“We’re very passionate about being good to people and planet and to extend our no compromise approach from hand into body care products,” said Camilla.

Steve Malkin, founder of The Planet MarkTM added: “As holders of The Planet MarkTM, The Soap Co. has shown its serious and ongoing commitment to the planet. We’re delighted their new eco range will be the very first consumer product featuring our logo.”

The Soap Co’s new Geranium & Rhubarb and Wild Nettle & Sage range include hand washes and hand and body lotions. Each bottle sold helps between 10 to 20 bees because they contain skin soothing calendula and borage botanicals, a vital source of food for bees which is under threat from intensive farming.

The new eco range has been crafted with ECO CERT and EU Ecolabel certified ingredients that set an exceptionally high and uncompromising standard because ECO CERT reduces the environmental impact of their ingredients during production whilst EU Ecolabel reduces the environmental impact of their ingredients over their entire product lifecycle.

The full range can be purchased directly from the
